Sacrament of Penance

Saturday at 4:00 pm

Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick

Please notify the Parish Life Center when a relative is sick or hospitalized. The sacraments of Penance, Eucharist and Anointing of the Sick are a joy and privilege to administer. If you know you are going to the hospital for surgery, please let the Pastor know and he will be glad to anoint you after Mass.

Sacrament of Baptism

Congratulations! In cooperation with God's creative love, you have given your child breath and now you wish to give them Real Life through the sacrament of Baptism. You will be your child's first teacher in the ways of the Faith. During your pregnancy, to help you prepare for this responsibility, we ask you to stop in the Parish Life Center and receive the booklet "You gave them breath, Now give them life."  This booklet will provide information needed to begin your preparation for the celebration of Baptism.  Please contact the Parish Life Center at 610-459-2502 for further information.

Sacrament of Marriage

The love between a husband and wife images for us the love of Christ and his church. What a powerful and awesome thing is the call to the sacrament of Marriage.

To assist couples to enter this sacrament, the Archdiocese of Philadelphia requires at least six months of formation prior to the reception of the sacrament.

Those who wish to receive the sacrament, please call the Parish Life Center to make an appointment to begin your sacramental preparation. Congratulations for responding to God's call to Love.

Sacrament of Holy Orders

Jesus said that we are to pray to the Lord of the harvest, that workers will be sent at harvest time. The best way to promote vocations to the diaconate and priesthood is to invite those men whom you would consider would make a good priest or deacon. If you feel the Lord might be asking you to be a priest or deacon, the Pastor, or one of the Deacons will always be available to answer your questions and give direction.

Altar Server Ministry

Altar Servers are called to assist the priest and deacon, and in a very special way, provide unique witness by their participation in the Holy sacrifice of the Mass. All boys and girls that have completed the fourth grade through high school are invited to participate as Altar Servers. Training is provided for new servers.

Art and Environment Ministry

The Art and Environment Ministry prepares our Church for worship during all seasons of the year. This includes planning and decorating, weekly maintenance of plants and flowers, and sewing altar linens and banners. This ministry welcomes adults and teens.

Eucharistic Adoration

Our Eucharistic Lord invites all to spend tiem with Him in petition, adoration, contrition, thanksgiving and love. The benefits of sitting with Jesus are enormous and very personal. Many volunteers make it possible to maintain our adoration hours and new volunteers are always welcome as many hours are open. Please consider answering the Lord's call.

Extraordinary Ministers of the Holy Eucharist

Extraordinary Ministers distribute the Body and Blood of Christ in the celebration of the Eucharist. They may also take the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. This ministry is for more mature Christians whose lives are marked by the characteristics of Christian discipleship, who have received approrpriate catechesis and are invited by the Pastor to participate.

Ministers of Hospitality

Members of the Ministers of Hospitality greet parishioners as they enter the narthex for Mass and pass out Mass books. They arrange for parishioners to carry the cross and present the gifts during Mass, direct parishioners to available seating, take up the collection and distribute bulletins and other literature after Mass. They assist parishioners and visitors when eneded. This ministry is open to all adults and teens.

Music Ministry

Praising God in song is essential to full participation in the liturgy. Musicians, cantors, choirs, and music groups help to facilitate and direct the participation of the congregation by leading them in song as well as helping them to pray through psalmody and reflections. Help with this ministry can be through any of the following ways: adult choir, children's choir, contemporary guitar groups, cantors, organists and other instrumentalists. This ministry is open to all adults and youth who demonstrate musical talent and confidence.

Prayer and Ministries

St. Cornelius is blessed with many prayer groups that meet throughout the week. These include a children's prayer group and rosary after daily Mass.

This ministry is working behind the scenes. Regular duties include setting up the altar for Mass and cleaning the vessels used during Mass. Training and a more detailed description of duties is provided to participants of this ministry.

St. Martha Society

Volunteers in this ministry care for the sacred linens, the vigil light, the crucifix and statues, as well as clean the pews and dust the tables. This ministry welcomes all adults, teens, and families with children old enough to understand and respect the sacred nature of this ministry.

Funeral Ministry

Funeral Ministry is a parish organization that provides volunteers to assist with the celebration of the funeral liturgy. If you have ever wanted to be an altar server this could be your opportunity. Funerals are generally celebrated at 10:00 a.m., so if you have the occasional morning available, St. Cornelius could use your help. Training will be provided.

Wedding Ministry

We are looking for volunteers to help with wedding rehearsals and/or weddings. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at 6pm and weddings are sometimes on Friday evenings and on Saturdays and usually take an hour. As a growing parish, we are celebrating more and more weddings and are in need of some help. Training will be provided and a schedule set up for coverage of rehearsals and weddings. Please call the Parish Life Center to volunteer.
