Chester County vocation holy hours are held on the second Saturday of every month: 7:30 pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Parish Center Chapel, with discussion to follow for men interested in the priesthood and women interested in religious life.
Any questions please contact Fr. DeLacy at (610) 692-2216.
Jesus said that we are to pray to the Lord of the Harvest, that workers will be sent at harvest time. The best way to promote vocations to the deaconate and priesthood, is to invite those men who, in your estimation, would make a good priest or deacon.
If you feel the Lord might be asking you to be a priest or deacon, Msgr. Parlante, Father Chiaravalle and Deacon Richard will always be available to answer your questions and give direction.
Signs of a Vocation to the Priesthood
- Sense of a spiritual call by God to serve His people as a priest.
- This spiritual call is experienced by a recurring thought;
a growing attraction to the priesthood;
a growing sense that one would find fulfillment by serving God as a priest.
- Love of God that manifests itself in a desire to give one's life in service to God's people.
- Love of the Church and her Traditions and a desire to celebrate the sacraments for God's people.
- Love of God's word and a desire to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to God's people.
- Desire to serve the people of God as a servant-leader, after the example of Jesus, "who came not to be served but to serve."
- A heart that can listen to others and a desire to be the compassionate, healing presence of Jesus to God's people.
- Desire to deepen one's relationship with God through daily prayer. Liturgical, communal and private prayer sustain the priest to grow in his love and dedication to Jesus Christ.
- Generosity with one's time, talents and gifts.
Priests are called to give generously of themselves for the good of the Church. Priests are called to be a "person for others."

How can you help promote vocations within your own family?
- Let your children see the good example of parents who live a Christian life and take Gospel demands seriously.
- Help your children understand, by words and actions, that religion is important to you.
- Pray daily, individually, as a family, at meals, in the morning, at night.
Some suggestions as to the theme of daily prayer are:
- That the laity who are already living a vocation may fulfill their Christian vocation to perfection in the love and service of God in their present circumstances. Also, that they may be open to God's suggestions and have the strength to carry them out.
- That those faced with a vocational choice consider their own God-given abilities and tendencies and decide on a vocation in light of God's will for their lives.
- A simple addition to the prayer, such as "Dear Lord, help us to do what you want us to do for you today," will keep the family's focus on our dependence on God and the need to do His will.
- Encourage your children to become involved in parish projects and societies, in the liturgy, and in charitable activities.
- Speak with respect about priests and religious, especially when differences of opinion arise. Be careful of the way criticism of the Church is handled.
- Let your parish priests and sisters know they are welcome in your home. Invite them to visit with you and your children.
- Keep abreast of current ideas as to the training, life and role of priests and religious in the Church. Familiarize yourself with their goals and the manner in which their role evolves as it pertains to their ministry in education and social justice.
